Considering The preferences and situations & media views Associated WithJournalism

Monday, June 15th, 2009

More and more public are getting into journalism as a speciality because they feel that this is one profession that would give them freedom in terms of work schedule, office attire, and even in speaking their minds in terms of views and opinions.

If you are one of those of the community who are looking forward to a journalism speciality, it is best if as early as now, you would start qualifying yourself for the position. The best thing that you need to do is really know if the journalism calling is really what you want to do. It is best to understand the industry very well first before you finally decide on it.

You can do this by conducting some basic research on how it is like to have a journalism employment option. You can find many articles some of these are even written by prominent figures in the newspaper industry-and ask yourself if you are willing to take this path. Once you have decided, you now have to earn the credentials needed for it or that can help you to achieve that goal of having a journalism vocation.

To earn the right credentials that can help you a take a notch higher in realizing your dream, it is ideal to enroll to a journalism university. This is because enrolling in a course that is directly related to it can help you understand the industry better and would also help you to be properly equipped for it.

What to consider : Today, there hundreds of journalism colleges and universities specialising in various aspects of people’s views that offer various programs that are related to a journalism calling. For you not to waste time studying in a university that won’t really help you once you have finished, it is best to be meticulous in choosing the right school before you finally enter it.

1. Choose the one that will fit your needs and personal preference. This is very important in choosing a journalism university because it will help you realize what it is that you are about to enter. You need to know what are your needs in terms of skills training and find out if the university can cater that need. You should also take time to consider if you really like the college and its programs not only because of the name or the popularity but the structure of the programs offered as well.

2. Choose a college that would allow you to pick your own tutor as each will have their own bias when it comes to dealing with economy opinion. In regular schools or courses, the college usually decides who is the teacher who will teach you. But since a journalism course is all about hands-on experience, it is best to choose a school that would give you freedom to choose who will be the ones who will be teaching you. This is very important because you will be able to get the first hand accounts from them.

If you don’t have an idea who the best professor to choose is, you can do a research on the faculty of the university. Look for the ones who you think are the best reference persons to you. Many of the faculty in journalism schools nowadays are into academics and they are not even media practitioners. Although they can be beneficial in honing your skills and knowledge, it will be better if you choose the lecturer that has experience in working as a journalist so he or she can help you start with your own journalism employment option.

Tinnitus From Noise – Eradicate Ringing in The Ears

Tinnitus As a Result of Exposure to Loud Noise

If you are suffering from tinnitus you could have attempted to live with it and put up with the ringing ears. It is only when it starts to get worse that you realise you want to do something to stop it as the strain it causes starts to affect you physically. Most folks arrange an appointment with their doctor when they first experience this noise. Hoping for a solution to the ear ringing.

Doctors just don’t stop it though and you finish up being prescribed one drugs after another, with the same result. No relief. Doctors often immediately pinpoint the cause of tinnitus as exposure to loud noise. Taking steps to avoid this noise is the neatest thing you can do in the absence of doctors helping you to stop it.

If you’re employed in a loud environment acting to reduce the noise is significant. This suggests staying as far distant as you can from the source of the noise. Taking frequent breaks to let your ears recover and wearing earplugs.

Wearing any ear protection will scale back the risks of hearing damage and prevent triggering ringing ears. If you are already suffering from tinnitus taking these steps will reduce further damage and lessen the effects. It won’t stop it though. Many people are now turning to homoeopathic remedies to stop the humming in the ears and they do work.

In most cases they reduce the noise and occasionally stop it completely. If you are looking for a remedy for tinnitus follow the same remedy that I used to cure ringing ears. This is guaranteed to stop the ringing in your ears and give you your life back.

Hairstyle Trends of the 1920′s

Monday, June 15th, 2009

The long-hair styles of the nineteenth century began to give way to shorter hairstyles like “the bob” during the early 1920′s, a trend which continued to grow in popularity. The original straight, plain, and relatively simple short bobbed hair styles of the early 1920′s were transformed into much more interesting and feminine bobs (with stylish curls and waves) in the middle to late twenties. The stylish bobbed hairstyles of the late nineteen twenties continued their popularity well into the 1930′s. The beautiful short hairstyles of this trend setting era have enjoyed a revival in modern times as hair stylists look back to this period for inspiration.

The most popular hairstyles of the nineteen twenties included the bob, marcel wave, finger wave, and shingle, all of which came with numerous variations. Other hairstyles like the Eton Crop were only temporary phenomenons. Barbers and hairdressers were in competition with each other for the cream of this booming hairdressing business, as women of all ages sacrificed their long tresses on the altar of fashion.

As early adopters of the new shorter hair styles, 1920′s movie stars and other celebrities played a big part in popularizing the new hair fashions through appearances in movies and stage shows, the new hairstyles they sported being eagerly copied by their adoring fans. The high cost of permanent waves when they first became commonly available did not put off women seeking a more permanent hair styling treatment.

In the 1920′s short hair for women was “in” and rapidly took over from the previously fashionable long hair styles. Bobbed hairstyles were considered extremely radical and unattractive by many to begin with but young women and middle aged women embraced the style in increasing numbers. The initial plain bobs were eventually replaced by more stylish and sophisticated bobs that featured waves and curls to add style and interest. Early critics predicted that bobs would be a short-lived fad that would last a couple of years at most and were surprised to find that they continued to grow in popularity well into the 1930′s. In actual fact, the mass migration to bobbed hairstyles turned out to be part of a major revolution in womens hairstyling.

Getting Rid of Stomach Fat For Good

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Contrary to what some people might believe, having a flat abdomen isn’t just about aesthetics. It is true that having a flat stomach makes you look good, but more importantly, it keeps you healthy. Aside from being a fitness problem, stomach fat poses harmful risks to your health.

Types of Abdominal Fat

Our stomach contains subcutaneous fat and visceral fat. Subcutaneous fat is found underneath the skin. Search online for the term lose abs fat and you will find many different solutions. Subcutaneous fat is helpful in that it stores energy and protects our skin from damage. Visceral fat on the other hand, is fat that is found deep within, surrounding our internal organs. Both types of fat are unhealthy in excessive amounts but visceral stomach fat is the more dangerous of the two.

Health Risks

Research has shown that excessive amounts of belly fat in the body is linked to serious health problems such as heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure. People who lead sedentary lives are most at risk of these diseases because they are more prone to accumulating excess fat. Some experts also believe that excessive visceral fat is linked to dementia. If you have too much fat in your body, the chances that you will suffer from dementia are higher than that of people with very little stomach fat.

Eliminating Belly Fat

These serious health issues are actually easy to avoid as long as people are careful not to let so much fat accumulate in their bodies. Many different people think that burning stomach fat is important and it is. It is not easy to eliminate fat in the stomach. It entails a great amount of discipline and commitment and this is where most people usually fail. But it is imperative that stomach fat be eliminated or at least, managed for we really can’t afford the alternative. Here are some measures to help you get rid of fat:

Cultivate healthy eating habits. Cholesterol is one of the reasons people get fat and you need to watch what you eat so that you take in fewer fatty foods. Cut back on junk food and increase your fiber intake. If you find yourself craving, it is helpful to make a list of your favorite foods along with healthier alternatives. That way, if you find yourself wanting to eat a snack, you will at least go with a healthy option. Drinking lots of water is also helpful as this makes you feel fuller and prevents you from overeating.

Get moving. Unfortunately, diet alone will not help you sustain a healthy lifestyle. It is vital that you perform physical activities on a regular basis.

Lower Blood Pressure Naturally and Get Down to Your Normal Range Blood Pressure

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Normal blood pressure for adult humans is 120 over 80 or below. Better is 115/75. Any BP higher than this could be an indication that you might develop hypertension in the future.

The “red line” for hypertension or high blood pressure is 140 over 90. Anything in-between normal and this redline, while not in crisis still means you are at higher risk for heart attack, stroke or kidney and heart failure.

If you have normal range blood pressure, great! You have no problems and should live a long and healthy life. But if you are up in the danger range, you ought to get your blood pressure readings down.

At one time in my life I was diagnosed as borderline hypertensive. For the next 15 years I took “beta blocking” pharmaceuticals to control my blood pressure (BP). What finally saved me was that I had bought a home blood pressure testor device and tested my BP every morning before I got out of bed.

I started noticing that certain things I did or did not do seemed to affect my daily BP readings. If I drank alcohol in excess in the evening, the next morning my BP would be higher. If I ate popcorn and drank martinis my BP went up. Red wine with cheese and crackers and it went down.

Gradually, I learned to lower blood pressure naturally. I found foods and a lifestyle that caused my blood pressure to go down. Gradually, I lowered the amount of medication I was taking, keeping my BP at 120/75.

I kept on with this program of lowering blood pressure naturally until finally, I found that I didn’t need the medication at all. That was 9 years ago. I have never taken medication to lower my BP since. Today, I still measure my blood pressure in the mornings. My last ten-day moving average of readings is 100.8/60.5 with a pulse rate of 51.0.

I took chances with my health and spent thousands of dollars on prescription drugs before I found out that when you control your blood pressure naturally, you don’t need them!

For more information on how to control blood pressure naturally, just click on any of the links above.

Verbs and The Italian Language

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

As someone learning Italian you will have a tendency to look for grammatical patterns. This is normal. Studying Italian verbs in a regulated fashion is a wise idea. In other words, take it in as a computer would accept a new program, without thinking about it or trying to analysis it. Mainly because it is an efficient use of time, plus Italian verbs are grouped in a variety of ways.

When studying Italian you must avoid the temptation of making comparisons in English. They are not even remotely the same and you will only end up frustrating yourself. There may be some similarities between the two languages, but there are so many basic differences they can not compare to each other. As in the English language there are many exceptions to the rules. Learn Italian

Verbs are a basic part of every language, so the same is true with Italian. There are three primary groups of verbs in Italian. They are grouped according to the ending of their infinitives. There is the first conjugation (-are verbs), second conjugation (-ere verbs), and third conjugation (-ire verbs).

The majority of the Italian verbs belongs to the first conjugation group and follows a very consistent pattern. Once you have mastered the conjugation of an -are verb, in essence you will have learned hundreds. The second conjugation verbs total about one quarter of the verbs. Many of them have some sort of erratic structure; there are also many regular – ere verbs. The final group of verbs is those that end in -ire. Learn Italian

In Italian there is a difference between tense and mood. Mood refers to the attitude of the speaker to what he or she is saying. The attitude is not directed at the person they are speaking to. There are four finite moods – modi finite in Italian is pinpointing, which is used when pinpointing facts; subjunctive – congiuntivo, which is used to express how the speaker feels or his attitude toward an event; conditional – condizionale, which is used to express what would happen in a certain situation that is hypothetical and imperative – imperative, which is used to give orders. The English language only has three of these finite moods. They are indicative, subjunctive, and imperative. Learn Italian

There are also three indefinite moods in Italian; the forms do not specify the person, such as first, second, or third. They are infinitive – infinito, participle – participio and gerund – gerundio. Moods are divided into one or more tenses, which tell the time when the action of the verb takes place whether it is present, past or future.

Mobility scooters and related equipment

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Due to a rather picturesque range of neurological disorders, not to mention the devastating effects of advancing age, I have become sort of less mobile than I used to be. Where I used to be able to effortlessly walk for hours and hours, I now move slowly at a tortoises pace, for no more than one hour, leaning on either a cane or a crutch – depending on how I happen to feel that day. Yet I won’t complain: there’s nothing I truly lack in this life, and diminished mobility doesn’t really bother me.

However, for the somewhat longer journeys I presently use an electrical, which definitely makes me feel like a prince or even a king! Relaxedly sitting in a comfortable seat, nicely but never haughtly saluting the breathless passers-by, I zip along at either walking pace or double speed. When I feel social I “walk”, when I actually need to be somewhere at a certain time I crank up the little machine.

There are lots of people much worse off than me, when it comes to mobility. I can, albeit with difficulty, still walk – many others can’t. Especially for those the electric scooter is a great help, enabling them to be free again. There are 3-wheel mobility scooters and 4-wheel mobility scooters, and if you’re seriously considering buying such a contraption, I would recommend the 3-wheeled variety. These are somewhat more manoeuvrable on account of their smaller turning radius, which is a definite advantage in crowded or cramped spots. I also would recommend to go for batteries with a large capacity: it’s not only unpleasant but also extremely embarassing to find yourself without of power when a long way from home!

Apart from electrical scooters, there are many more contraptions and gadgets that make the life of the handicapped much easier. Stairlifts, bed lifts, electric wheelchairs, walkers… they all help to make life much more pleasant for the handicapped.

Kansas City Computer Repair: A few computer tips

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

As a Kansas City computer repair specialist, I have the privilege of seeing a vast array of computers, configurations and setups across the city. It continues to be surprising how many computer owners still leave there computers unprotected. The world is changing fast and the foreign computer attackers are growing at a swift pace. Some of the foreign attackers make the average domestic attacker seem relatively harmless. I say relatively because the domestic malware creator can still produce threats that will render your computer unusable.

The most recent threat types such as the “bot” bring a whole new paradigm of intrusion to the computer landscape. “A bot typically runs hidden and complies with the RFC 1459 (IRC) standard. Generally, the perpetrator of the botnet has compromised a series of systems using various tools (exploits, buffer overflows, as well as others; see also RPC). Newer bots can automatically scan their environment and propagate themselves using vulnerabilities and weak passwords. Generally, the more vulnerabilities a bot can scan and propagate through, the more valuable it becomes to a botnet controller community. The process of stealing computing resources as a result of a system being joined to a “botnet” is sometimes referred to as ‘scrumping.’” – Wikipedia.

Overlooking the technical terminology above, you can see that bots are very sophisticated in their approach and very dangerous to the well-being to all who are involved.

In the malware removal category, software like pc tools spyware doctor is a solid tool to help combat some of these bots such as the VBBot. Spyware Doctor can even remove Conficker which is a worm that is really part of a botnet that is extremely hard to counter.

If you wish to have specific botnet protection, take a look at Norton Antibot as a viable solution.

Norton Antibot is software licensed from Sana Security(update: purchased by AVG in Jan 2009- Norton Antibot discontinued) that detects bots, spyware, adware and other malware based on their behavior. It does not need a signature database to operate because it detects suspect behaviors.

The Norton 360 product now implements SONAR technology which is used to combat botnets. Therefore, look at Norton 360 as the alternative to Norton Antibot.
