I need an eCommerce website for my online store. Does anyone know any good web design companies?

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Basic web ecommerce shopping cart solutions capture email addresses, send receipts and send a thank you to buyers. However, most shopping cart services do much more.Shopping cart programs today help with website hosting, QuickBooks links, pricing, tax calculations and digital product downloads. Basic e-commerce systems commonly offer ready-to-use store templates or wizards that guide you through the setup process and help you get your store up and running. They also come with ready-to-use shopping cart soft that keeps customers purchases as they select them, calculates prices, collects the information about customers and then submits credit card information to your bank. When getting a website quote make sure these items are encluded. Basic computer literacy skills are strongly recommended. However, if your computer skills are weak, you may need extra patience with yourself and your computer.

Your visitors experience is more important than the design itself but design and usability should go hand-in-hand. Please, please, please do not hire someone who is a print designer or skilled illustrator familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite and can do fascinating things with color. Website design for small businesses and Search Engine Optimization , in particular, are tricky subjects; the instructors recognize this fact and are more than happy to clarify any aspect of the workshop that might be confusing to people. An interesting upshot of attending the SCORE workshops is that small business owners are given the opportunity to meet and network with those in their field?professionals with similar interests and knowledge of the local business environment. Website is search engine optimized and has back-end control panel for site editing and creation of new pages and products. Centauria previously designed a corporate identity package for the firm, including logo, business cards and stationary.

Small business web design is not just about having a website for the sake of having a website. It’s an extension of your business.

Natural is NOT Non-Toxic

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

You would not believe the number of people who confuse the terms “non-toxic” and “natural.” I’m here to tell you, they are not the same thing. There are lots of natural substances that are deadly poison. Take a look at arsenic, hemlock or nightshade. All are natural, but none are non-toxic. It is the same thing in the natural flea control.
Archer is an Insect Growth Regulator that stops the eggs and larvae from developing. It doesn’t even kill fleas! But it does break the life cycle and is totally non-toxic. Now, that is a good thing. The world is so inundated with more and more chemicals that removing toxins wherever we find them is the best way to live.

But what happens if you find that you still have adult fleas to deal with and don’t want to wait the 30 to 45 days that it would take to let them die off of old age? Well, there are still ways to stay relatively low toxic and still get the job done. Conquer is like a fourth generation pyrethrum which is an insecticide made from the chrysanthemum flower in Africa. It is tightly targeted to kill fleas and to be relatively non-reactive with mammals. In addition, it breaks down rapidly in our environment. That was the problem with the old insecticides - they never broke down. They had a half-life longer than you and me!

The final step is to put Frontline on the dogs and cats. Frontline kills fleas that get on the pets, but it does not go into the pet’s bloodstream. It stays on the outside by bonding with the oil layer of the skin.

So, use an IGR always, use an insecticide only if you have to, and keep Frontline on your pets throughout the year. You won’t have fleas, guaranteed.

Do Inversion Tables Work?

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Back pain strikes thousands of people all over the world daily. The use of inversion tables has become more popular to help treat back pain and improve overall back and spine health is a popular remedy that has been in existence for much longer than many of us realize. However, the question that most often arises is do inversion tables work?

As early as 400 B.C. Hippocrates, also known as the Father of Medicine, is known to have used ropes and pulleys to suspend a patient suffering from back pain. Gravity was the key ingredient in the treatment, allowing the joints of the body to naturally decompress and ease pain.

Since then, inversion therapy and the benefits of inversion tables have gone through multiple incarnations across the world, becoming widely recognized in the United States during the 1960s thanks to a California doctor named Robert Martin. Martin created the “Gravity Guidance System,” which used the effects of gravity on the human body as a remedy for everything from back pain to poor posture.

The development of the Gravity Guidance inversion table by Dr. Martin in the 1970s led to the increasing popularity of inversion, which reached new heights during the 1980s with the invention of gravity boots and multiple manufacturers of other types of inversion equipment. Throughout the years, the medical community went back and forth on whether or not inversion was indeed a successful pain treatment. Eventually, they concluded that any fears about inversion therapy were greatly exaggerated, and that inversion caused no harm to the body and could, in fact, do some good.

With these findings, inversion came back into fashion in the 1990s and is now a fairly popular health market, with many people swearing that it’s the ultimate way to eliminate pain. Inversion enthusiasts all over the world tout it as ideal for all age and fitness levels, and a great way to help with chronic back and joint problems that cannot be fixed by other methods. Always be sure to consult a doctor before taking any medical advice.

Nearly All Families Helped By Social Security

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Today, with millions of people losing their jobs every month, long awaited retirement travel is only a dream. With our financial systems going into the sewer, and the home crisis blowing up around us - these safety nets are becoming more crucial than ever before. A lot of retired women, especially, are just barely able to make ends meet even with the help of Social Security. Primarily, this is because women today are less likely than men to have additional sources of income. Partly due to working less years in the workforce because of child raising responsibilities. And partly because, even while in the work force, women typically are paid less than men. Luckily, this situation seems to be gradually changing,

But even families that don’t necessarily need Social Security to survive are helped by it. In fact, according to independent studies, if the government were suddenly to get rid of Social Security, many retired families would experience a drop in their living standards of 70% or more.

Many people fear that the system cannot sustain itself. In fact, there have been times in the past when the amount of money paid to recipients exceeded the amount of money collected via FICA. In these cases, Trust bonds were sold to make up the shortfall. Because of circumstances like these, Congress has occasionally upped the percentage of gross income that FICA can collect from salaries. Even these modifications, however, as the population ages and simultaneously live longer, may not be enough to sustain the system without drastic changes to the system.

The Social Security program is the most vast government program in the country - comprising over one fifth of the federal budget. As some politicians look at cutting the size and expenses of government, this program has an inviting target on its back. To many people, however, the cost of losing this critical system could ultimately be a great deal more than the cost of running budget deficits.

How Moms Can Learn Piano While Helping Their Kids Learn

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Are you a mother looking to get your child piano lessons? Maybe you took them as a child as well, but stopped as you got older. Or maybe you always wanted to learn the piano and never got the chance. The good news is that helping your child learn how to play the piano can actually help you learn the instrument as well.

The most important thing to do is to participate. Passively watching your child practice or just listening while you do the laundry isn’t going to teach you anything. Though you may enjoy hearing your little one gradually progress in skill, without participation you’ll be the frustrated non-musician that you’ve always been. It’s time to step up, sit down and practice right alongside your child.

When your child’s instructor is around, ask questions. Throw your mind into the lessons as though they were your own. If you don’t understand a particular exercise, ask the teacher to explain it again. Your child might need to hear it again too, but might be afraid to ask. Ask about different composers and music pieces so that you understand the theories behind the music. The piano is a huge instrument, able to reproduce an unsurpassed variety of sounds, so ask investigative questions.

Practice alongside your child. By doing exercises on the piano together, you’ll bond over the newfound skill you’ve developed. You’ll strengthen the muscles in your hands and fire up unused synapses in your brain. When you’ve gained some skill and knowledge of a few pieces, play together. It’s a joy to be able to play a piano duet besides Heart and Soul.

By participating in your child’s instrumental development, you’ll know when they’re ready to be challenged. Consult with the teacher and discuss your child’s readiness. Hopefully you’ll be ready to be challenged as well. Don’t push yourself too hard, though. If you feel pain in your hands or wrists, see a doctor.

You’ll be gaining both technical skill and musical knowledge. You might find yourself exploring the classical section of your local bookstore with a new interest. If you only know Claire de Lune by Claude Debussy, you might suddenly be interest in the rest of the Suite Bergamasgue. Warm up your hands before attempting the Menuet at full speed to avoid injury.

Maybe you’ll hear jazz pianists in a new way once you’ve begun to understand what they’re playing. Or you’ll hear the Beatles Eleanor Rigby and notice the shifts between E Aeolian and E Dorian in the melody. When you start hearing music in a different light, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without playing the piano.

Remember that your child will probably learn the instrument much easier than you. The empty vessel of childhood is a blessing in this area, so don’t feel bad. Just learn to play for your own enjoyment. Find piano pieces that interest you and play them for your ears only. Of course, if you’re a bit of a showboat, you can always sit down at the bench at a party and impress your guests. Keep participating in your child’s learning and you’ll find yourself a new avenue of expression.

What is Joomla and Why Do I Need It?

Joomla Training is in high demand as Joomla, an open source CMS, is quickly becoming the Content Management System of choice by the vast audience of website owners who are updating their sites to fit into a Web 2.0 framework.

Learning Joomla is easy with Joomla video tutorials, and Web 2.0 is a term used to describe the next-generation of websites. These 2.0 websites provide such functionality as the ability to add and upload their own content, as well as write reviews, share images, videos, post in forums, just about anything.

Joomla is an affordable alternative, it’s free, and Joomla has a very large user community. Joomla’s easy-to use “Administrator,” or “Backend” interface allows even the most novice user the ability to effectively manage their website.

Joomla has thousands of Extensions and Plugins to expand core functionality of the system to provide additional features and benefits. This means, you can quickly and easily add new features to your Joomla website simply by installing them via the simple to use Administrator.

Joomla’s built-in Search Engine Optimized linking system (this means the search engines love these types of sites) is managed automatically. You only need to add content, and provide some details about the content via the Administrator, and Joomla will produce well optimized links and titles, making your sites appealing and easily indexable to the search engines.

Visually, Joomla is just as stunning as any other website out there. With thousands of Free Joomla templates and several high-quality Joomla Template clubs, finding the perfect template for your site shouldn’t be a difficult task.

Weight loss tips

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Weight loss is simple, burn more calories then you consume and you will find that you have found out the secret of how to lose weight fast. If you can fully understand that then you are already on your way to losing those unwanted pounds. Weight loss is a tender subject for many people for both personal and public reasons but understanding the simple concept above will put you on the right track for a new beginning.

When you build your meals from a generous array of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans, healthy vegetarian choices like these make not only finding the weight loss cure a reality but it is remarkably easy to do. Along with this dietary change will come major improvements in cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, and many other positive aspects of good health. In contrast however, some drugs that decrease appetite can result in short term weight loss, but once the drugs are discontinued, the weight loss is often difficult to maintain and therefore short lived. Drugs like amphetamines or thyroid hormones are not safe and should never be used as a viable treatment for obesity. Weight loss is a basic equation based on eating the right foods and doing the right exercises. If you know this and take advantage of this concept than a new you is right around the corner.

Someone who may have a job that involves heavy physical labor will naturally burn more calories in a day than someone who sits at a desk most of the day in a sedentary job. For those people who do not have jobs that require physical activity, exercise or increased physical activity can increase the number of calories burned to counter this affectively. Green Tea Extract for example was created to increase calorie and fat metabolism and decrease the appetite. However, it has been known to cause vomiting, bloating and diarrhea. In lieu of these not so enjoyable side affects, trying to eat 300 to 500 or so calories less per day should lead to a loss of between one to three pounds per week. This is a realistic target. Now if you want to lose weight fast you can certainly do that as well but it will require more dedication and focus from you than simply just cutting back on caloric intake.

Many studies have shown that the key to true long term weight control consists of a diet based on a high intake of colorful fruits and vegetables, reasonable portion sizes, and healthy fats, along with a moderate exercise program and modest expectations. Also if you drink soda try to switch to something healthier instead, water, tea, V8 juice etc. Soda simply gives you empty calories and adds to your calories for the day by over 150 per can. Before switching to diet soda to offset this, most diet soda’s possess an ingredient called aspartame. This ingredient is very bad for you, simply do a google search on it and many results will tell you why.

Speeding Up a Food Mixer for Better Results

Friday, January 30th, 2009

It would be naïve to presume that one specific mixing function will be suitable for each kind of food. All food mixers will have to mix differently for different forms of food. The good news is, many mixers can have quite a few different food mixer speeds. The ability to change speeds is necessary for the reason that they improve the adaptability of a typical mixer, such as a copper Kitchenaid Mixer.

The slowest speeds are normally going to be used for thicker types of foods. As a case in point, mixers that are fitted with dough hooks should give you the option to mix at very slow speeds when they are required to do so. This is to make sure that the dough hook can be enabled to knead the bread dough at the recommended speed and the dough will be completely prepared.

When preparing other types of foods, higher speeds are more helpful. Cake batters should be mixed at a high speed to smooth out the batter properly. Egg whites need high speed mixing to force sufficient oxygen into them for a good meringue base. When using flour in your mixture, though, you should begin mixing the flour in at a low speed to keep it from getting swept up and out of the bowl. A good brand and color of food mixers is the copper Kitchenaid Mixer, available in many sizes and styles.

Another consideration for mixer speeds is that specific speeds are required for certain attachments. Dough hooks are intended to spin on low settings and are substantial enough to plow through thicker foods. Wire whisks, however, are ineffective at lower settings and are intended to operate at high speeds.

Biodiesel is good for your diesel car

Friday, January 30th, 2009

It is surprising how few people are aware that biodiesel is better for your car than the mineral diesel that you purchase on garage forecourts.

In fact, the diesel engine was originally designed to run on vegetable oil. If you think about it, this is not surprising. When Rudolf Diesel invented the diesel engine at the beginning of the 20th century, there were no diesel fuel pumps at garages so he had to have a readily-available fuel that people could use.

Vegetable oil fits the bill very nicely - it is incredibly easy to make using vegetable products that are readily-available in developed as well as developing countries. When Rudolf Diesel first demonstrated his diesel engine, he ran it on peanut oil.

With the rapid increase in the price of oil and the knowledge that oil supplies will run out probably within our lifetimes, there has been a big resurgence in people using vegetable oil to power their diesel cars.

Whilst it is possible to use vegetable oil straight off the supermarket shelf, it only takes a small amount of effort to convert pure vegetable oil into high quality biodiesel. Making biodiesel at home is now a regular activity by a large number of DIY enthusiasts.

And you do not need to buy new vegetable (cooking) oil from supermarkets. Waste cooking oil is available from most restaurants and fast-food establishments free-of-charge. They need to dispose of it in an environmentally-friendly way and are more than happy to have it collected on a regular basis.

There are guides that show you how easy it is to make your own biodiesel. Not only can you save a large amount of money by making your own biodiesel, but - by using waste vegetable oil - you are effectively recycling a waste product that would normally end up dumped on a landfill site. So making biopdiesel at home is good for the environment.

A Buyers Guide to Diamond Engagement Rings

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

No engagement is complete without the diamond engagement ring. Engagement ring prices can range in price greatly and it is the diamond that makes the engagement ring such an expensive gift. With such an important investment, you should make sure you understand some of the basics principles of buying diamonds.

Professional jewellers use four factors called the 4Cs to purchase diamonds, and you should use the same standards to buy the diamond engagement ring.

Colour - This refers to the degree to which the diamond is colourless. The colour of the diamond has a significant impact on its overall value. You can ask the jeweller to place the diamonds you are interested in order based on colour value. When comparing diamonds for colour, most consumers are not able to detect a difference unless they are at least two or three colour grades apart.

Clarity - Clarity is no less important when it comes to selecting a diamond. An Fl (Flawless) graded diamond shows no inclusions (inclusions = flaws) under 10X magnification. The fewer the imperfections, the rarer and more valuable the diamond.

Cut - This is the angles and proportions of the diamond shape. Cut is also called “make,” the better the cut the more attractive the diamond. Valuing the diamond based on cut can be very subjective.

Carat - Most people compare carat weight to size. Carat weight is the basic measuring unit of diamonds. The larger the diamond the more it weighs.

Whilst they are all beautiful, diamonds can vary greatly in colour, clarity, cut, and carat weight. We hope you’ll find the above information helpful in selecting your diamond engagement ring. Always bear in mind that you should only buy diamond rings from a reputable jeweller.
